NNF: Applications Open for Summer Athlete Support Grants

Date:

The following press release was received from the National Nordic Foundation earlier this month. It was, full disclosure, received last week, and I admittedly probably should have posted it earlier. But you still have through the end of this week to apply, and you may do so here. NNF has money; if you are a high-level junior skier, you should apply so that they can potentially give some of it to you. Best of luck, and happy training.

Here’s Ben Theyerl on behalf of NNF:

The National Nordic Foundation (NNF) is excited to announce that the application for our Summer Athlete Support Grants is now open. Our Athlete Support Grants offer an additional round of funding to support individual summer training opportunities for developing nordic skiers across the United States.

These Summer Athlete Support Grants provide skiers with additional possibilities to pursue summer training opportunities both within the US and abroad. Highly organized, and creative, summer training opportunities have played a crucial part in building a strong development system for US skiing. Through grant recipients, NNF hopes to expand the possibilities for US skiing’s offseason program while also fostering our relationship with the international ski community through our best asset, our skiers.

Our Summer Athlete Support Grants are also inspired by the passionate ski community that supports NNF. Following an extraordinarily successful summer auction last month, NNF is excited to be able to put more funding towards empowering athletes to pursue skiing with the same passion and drive as the community that supports them.

The application for NNF Summer Athlete Support Grants will be open Monday, August 7, through Friday, August 18. Athletes who have qualified and participated in NNF Pillar Projects are  encouraged to apply, especially those who have qualified for one or more of the following: 2023  World Juniors and U23 Championships, 2023 U18 Nordic Nations Cup, 2023 OPA Cup Trip, National Elite Group Camp (NEG), and/or the 2023 National Training Group (NTG).

Me again: Once more, you can find the application here. I should also share this text, from the introduction to the application itself, to give you a little more info about what NNF is looking for here:

“The NNF Athlete Support Grant intends to boost committed athletes who exhibit or have exhibited a propensity for international racing success as a Nordic athlete, who face circumstances critical to that mission that require financial support beyond categories captured in our pillar projects.

“Strong applicants will exhibit a clear understanding of where they stand developmentally in context to international competitive excellence and how this grant will directly increase the likelihood of their personal international success.”
