Speaking to reporters from the depths of a face made haggard by bloodshot eyes and ten days’ worth of untamed stubble, FIS Social Media Head Joen Ossler admitted recently that he had been streaming and restreaming historic Jessie Diggins races for hours on end, just to feel something again.
“It hurts,” said Ossler, shortly after his seventeenth viewing of Diggins’s breakthrough World Cup victory in the 2016 Tour de Ski that day alone. “A great light that once shone so bright has flickered out, perhaps forever. I miss her so much.”
At press time, Ossler had turned his attention to workshopping Imagine Dragons tracks that would really make a Diggins comeback post pop, “just in case.”
