This is a reader-funded website. Virtually all of my income (for perspective: I took home less than $5,000 from Nordic Insights last year after paying staff) comes from reader contributions, which I sincerely appreciate. If you would like to support the site, including helping us pay off our final bills from Olympics travel, you may do so here. Thank you.
Joking in the headline aside, I have almost an embarrassment of riches here when it comes to images out of last weekend in Lake Placid. A site that has largely made its name off of skilled writing paired with, uh, grainy screenshots from the FIS livestream had not one, but two photographers on scene for the biggest weekend in American skiing since the Loppet Cup two years ago.
Today’s featured photog: Tryg Solberg. Tryg is a recent graduate of Michigan Tech; he skied for the Huskies for four years. He finished as high as 15th in a SuperTour, 20th at NCAA Championships, and 14th in the Birkie.
Also, he took these fine photos for us. I like them; you can really get a sense for the conditions, particularly on Sunday (viz., it was damp).
You can find Tryg’s galleries on SmugMug here, and his Instagram here. If you see photos, from this weekend or elsewhere, that pique your interest and would like to arrange purchasing some, his Venmo is @Tryg-Solberg.
Here are some photos from the weekend that I liked. Enjoy. Click on any image to enlarge and bring up a slideshow; athlete names are in captions.

You’re reading this on Nordic Insights, one man’s labor of love dedicated to publicizing American skiing. We started with nothing, and then we made it to the Olympics. You can read more about our first three years here, and donate to the Olympics fund here. Thank you for consideration, and, especially, for reading.
