National Team Nominations Announced for 2025/2026

Date:

By Gavin Kentch

In a Thursday press release, U.S. Ski & Snowboard announced the 21 athletes nominated to the U.S. Cross Country Ski Team for 2025/2026. You should assume that every athlete listed here will accept the nomination and ultimately be officially named to the team, though as a procedural matter acceptance and formal team naming will not occur until this fall.

The 21 athletes nominated to next year’s national team are:

Ben Ogden (SMS)

JC Schoonmaker (APU)

Gus Schumacher (APU)

women

Rosie Brennan (APU)

Jessie Diggins (SMS)

B-Team

Zanden McMullen (APU)

Jack Young (Craftsbury Green Racing Project)

women

Novie McCabe (APU)

Kate Oldham (BSF)

Sammy Smith (Stanford University)

D-Team

Men

Tabor Greenberg (University of Vermont)

Murphy Kimball (University of Alaska Anchorage)

Jack Lange (Dartmouth College)

The 16 athletes nominated to this year’s team on an objective basis were first reported by this site earlier this month. Since that article was published, all of Rosie Brennan, Novie McCabe, Jack Lange, Fin Bailey, and Haley Brewster have also been named to the team via the exercise of discretion. The first four names listed here experienced illness or injury during last winter, and were presumptively nominated on a discretionary basis for that reason.

Also note that Kate Oldham is now affiliated with the BSF Pro Team; this news was first reported by Ryan Sederquist, slightly before I got the press release from coach Andy Newell. Jack Young continues his affiliation with Craftsbury. Kendall Kramer moves to APU, which I noted earlier this month (also first formally reported by Sederquist, I believe). In likely the biggest club affiliation news in this article, Sydney Palmer-Leger has moved from SMS to the new team helmed by Perry Thomas, Mansfield Pro Nordic.

Athletes newly named to the team this year are Oldham, Tabor Greenberg, and Lucas Wilmot. Congratulations to all athletes.

Again, an official team naming announcement will follow in September. Until then, you may read the original press release from USSS here.
