JNQ Results Roundup for January 17–19: Fairbanks, SoHo, Ariens Nordic, Mt Van Ho

Date:

By Gavin Kentch

It is January. Junior Nationals Qualifying season is in full swing. There was racing in many parts of a large country this past weekend, from Fairbanks to Lake Placid. Fairbanks hosted JNs in 2023, while Lake Placid hosted in 2024. How’s that for symbolism.

2025 Junior Nationals will be held in Soldier Hollow, from March 9–15, 2025.

Anyway. Here are some weekend results for you, arranged from west to east as is my wont. Full results linked in at the bottom of each section. Many thanks to Petra Wilm, of APU parents, and Ben Theyerl, of NENSA, for their photos. I appreciate it.

Sorry to not have this broken out by age group; I don’t have age categories or year of birth on the results I’m looking at, and I’m not gonna hazard age group guesses for a bevy of New England skiers from a distance. As of Tuesday morning Alaska time I don’t see this weekend’s results reflected yet in the JNs points list, linked below, suggesting that they are not yet officially available. Check back at those links within the week for more on this.

You’re reading this on Nordic Insights, one man’s labor of love dedicated to publicizing American nordic skiing. Last season’s GoFundMe is literally the only reason why I turned a profit in years one and two of Nordic Insights, and in turn the only reason why there is a year three of Nordic Insights for you to be reading now: I was okay with working for very little money to get this love letter toAmerican cross-country skiing off the ground, but I didn’t want to lose money for the privilege of doing so. If you would like to support what remains a brutally shoestring operation, last season’s GoFundMe may be found here. Thank you for your consideration, and, especially, for reading.
