NNF Summer Auction Now Live

Date:

By Gavin Kentch

The summer 2024 auction benefiting the National Nordic Foundation is now underway. You can find it here; you should bid early and bid often. The auction opened on Monday of this week. It ends on Friday, July 12, per the NNF site, but actually at 8 p.m. on Monday, July 15, per the auction site, so you should probably go with the latter date.

Here are some fine things that you can bid on:

A brand-new Beijing Olympic suit from Rosie Brennan [write your own joke about how buying this suit may lead to Finnish skiers drafting off of you in windy conditions] (photo: courtesy NNF)
A high-vis NNF training shirt that you can otherwise only get by qualifying for REG camp (photo: courtesy NNF)
A signed Jessie Diggins face bib (photo: courtesy NNF)
JC Schoonmaker’s not-small Kappa trenchcoat (photo: courtesy NNF)

I don’t have a photo for this last one, but I am also struck by the offering of a 90-minute one-on-one technique session with USST Development Team Coach Greta Anderson. As someone who has known Greta for years, has previously been coached by her, and has discussed ski technique with her in sessions both formal and informal, this item is currently grievously undervalued at $260 imho. Seriously. You can pay a thousand bucks for a new pair of race skis with bindings, or you can pay a fourth of that to learn how to make any pair of skis go faster. Not saying just saying.

Again, you should bid on these. All proceeds go to support NNF’s “pillar projects,” which include things like REG camps, international trips from Nordic Nations to the World Cup, and the Trail to Gold women’s coaching fellowship.

Once more, the auction is here.
