Coaching Staff Announced for World Juniors and U18 Scando Cup Trips

Date:

Athletes vying to make the American team for World Junior Championships, World U23 Championships, or the U18 Scando Cup trip will have to wait through the conclusion of tomorrow’s races for results to be calculated and trip rosters to be announced. But I can tell you now who the coaches will be.

According to a recent press release from U.S. Ski & Snowboard, the staff for the World Juniors/U23 trip (Planica, early February) will be as follows. N.b., “service” here effectively means “wax teching.”

Coaches

Trip Leader & Head Coach: Greta Anderson, U.S. Ski Team

Coach: Bryan Fish, U.S. Ski Team

Coach: Lucy Glanville, Soldier Hollow

Service Staff

Head of Service: August Teague, Aspen Valley Ski Club

Service: Bernie Nelson, Auburn Ski Club

Service: Will Wicherski, Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club

Service: Peter Holmes, Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation

Service: Kaelyn Woods, Bridger Ski Foundation

Service: Ben Higgins, Great Glen Outdoor Center

Service: Paige Ripley, Fairbanks XC

Medical Staff

Medical Staff: Dr. Katie Eichten, Spooner Nordic

Medical Staff: Dr. Jasmine Wiley

Physical Therapist: Dr. Elizabeth Smith, Loppet Nordic Racing

And the staff for the U18 Scandinavian Trip (Falun, late January) will be:

Coaches & Service Staff

Trip Leader & Head Coach: Greta Anderson, U.S. Ski Team

Coach: Katie Eichten, Spooner Nordic

Head of Service: Matt Clarke, Team Birkie

Service: Adam Westman, Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation

Medical Staff

Medical Staff: Dr. Katie Eichten

Points lists for athlete selection for these trips may be found here. I could tell you who’s currently leading, but with two races yet to go that would just be premature speculation. Best of luck to all athletes.

This article was updated on January 17, following an updated staffing announcement from USSS. It removed Olof Hedberg’s name from the list of coaches for Planica, and added Lucy Glanville’s name to the coaching staff for this trip. It also added club affiliations for several members of the medical staff.
