Photo Dump: Anchorage SuperTour

Date:

This article is one part appreciation post, one part just letting you know where you can find great photos from the four SuperTour races held in Anchorage last week.

On the one hand, Graeme Williams, aka @oneskatephotos, is a really nice guy. He drove me from my spot at the crummiest coziest condo in downtown Whistler out to the ski trails at Whistler Olympic Park for all of 2023 World Juniors, after I discovered only a few days before the races started that I would be unable to ride the athlete shuttles leaving from just down the street from me. He took a whole lot of photos that week and was nice to everyone. His daughter, Tabitha Williams, who is probably embarrassed by this point, is a rising star for Team Great Britain internationally, and skis domestically for the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Graeme is good people.

On the other hand, but as further indicia of him being a nice guy, Graeme took multiple thousand photos while he was up here in Anchorage for the SuperTour last week, and is making them available to you. For free (but you should probably pay him a small amount in thanks).

You can find the photos here, and/or just click on the above photo to go to the Flickr stream.

Graeme says he will provide originals to anyone who wants them on a pay-what-you want basis. Message him (@oneskatephotos on Instagram) for more info.

His tip jar for payment is here. Keep in mind that, even if you value his labour at $0/hour (which we all have to do in this business to keep from going crazy), cameras and memory cards and online hosting all cost money. To say nothing of his travel expenses from Canmore to Anchorage. Plus maybe handwarmers for six-hour days outside at… not the warmest venue on the circuit. So you should pay the man something, is what I’m trying to say.

This is not a sponsored post. If anything, after a week’s worth of rides to and from the venue in Whistler, plus photo use, I should probably be paying Graeme at this point. For the time being, though, I am just working hard and being nice to people, and I really like to believe that that is reciprocated in this business, as in life.
