U.S. Ski & Snowboard announced the 22 members of the 2022/2023 U.S. Cross Country Ski Team on Monday of this week. The 22-athlete team continues a recent run of historically large team sizes, up from 21 athletes last season and down slightly from 23 athletes the season before that.
For perspective, there were five athletes total on the national team in the Olympic season of 2005/2006, including zero women.
“Over the course of the year, the coaching staff has been continually impressed by the dedication, professionalism, and preparedness of this amazing group of athletes, and we’re so excited to see what they can do this season,” said U.S. Cross Country Team Director Chris Grover in a press release.
Athletes were named to the team via a mix of objective and discretionary criteria. According to Nordic Insights’ math, two athletes, Kevin Bolger and Zak Ketterson, were named to the team under the discretionary selection policy.
Team rosters and hometown are as follows, as drawn from the USST press release, along with the most recent information for each athlete’s club affiliation, as per Nordic Insights’ reporting. Stay tuned for the Nordic Insights roster page, coming online here soon, which will give you a one-stop shop for following all national team athletes’ results and social media accounts.
