These photos are free (for athletes, for noncommercial purposes). But getting them to this website took: hours of photographer Anna Engel’s time at a brutally cold venue over the weekend; hours more of her time selecting and editing photos; a small amount of my time to wrangle them into article and WordPress photo gallery form; photo software; hosting fees; and so on. So you should send some money her way for her time: It will be the cheapest thing you spend money on in Anchorage this week.
Anna’s Buy Me a Coffee link is here. A QR code that takes you to the same place is also at the bottom of this article. Enjoy.
SuperTour racing for the 2025/2026 season kicked off at a frankly pretty brutally cold and windy Kincaid Park over the weekend. Lauren Jortberg won everything in sight for the women. Erling Bjørnstad and Hunter Wonders took wins for the men.
If you’re reading this website, you probably know all that already (although you can revisit that print coverage here if you like). Now it is time for some photos, because everyone likes those better than my words. Not being self-effacing; I’ve seen the analytics.
Here are some of Anna’s photos of the women from Sunday’s 10ish-kilometer interval-start skate race:

And here are some of her photos of the men:

But these are just some of the photos! Did she get photos of every single athlete who raced on Sunday? Reader, she did. Was it really, really cold out there but I nonetheless urged her to stay at the venue long enough to get comprehensive photos of the entire start list? Again, yes. Did she also get shots of the lion’s share of athletes in the heats on Saturday? Once again: yes.
I’ll stop now, sorry. But here is a Google Drive with all of the photos. And, again, here is the donation link. Anna is also going to the Olympics this spring, and I am paying her as much as I am paying me (zero (0) dollars), so you should chip in here to help her cover those expenses. Thank you.
P.S. If you need athlete photos from the Olympics, Anna will be on site for nearly all races and will be a *lot* cheaper than any commercial photo service out there. Be in touch if interested and we can talk specifics: info (at) nordicinsights.news.
